Learn How to Rock Your Role as the Office Leader

Speaker: Laura Hatch, FAADOM

The structure of a dental office must mirror that of any successful business. It needs an owner or CEO (dentist) and a team that shares the same vision and goals as the dentist. That team needs a leader – The Office Manager. The Office Manager must be a leader and role model of expectations for the team and always ready to help wherever and whenever there is a need.

Time management takes on an entirely new meaning when it comes to being a dental office manager. The office manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the practice so that the doctor can focus on what they do best – patient care.

In this presentation, Laura will help you discover new and innovative ways to make your role as the dental office manager easier and more rewarding by incorporating the following:

• Walking up with the right attitude – Starting off the day right!
• How you plan your day from start to finish
• How you keep up with your own workload and help keep the day running smoothly for your team
• How to take on new projects and get things implemented while keeping your team motivated

Hospitals are using Facebook to build friends, doctors are using Twitter to tweet during surgeries, and patients are using PatientsLikeMe to self-diagnose. Social media provides people with a readily available means to connect with others through sharing, teaching, and providing support. But, for health care providers, social media can be a double-edged sword due to the ethical and legal restrictions imposed on practitioners and their staff.

There are many benefits to using social media tools. But, the ease of use and instant worldwide dissemination can (and has) cause(d) issues in the health care space. Importantly, once the information is released online, it is impossible to remove; thus, potentially causing long-term harm to the affected patient and the organization.

During this session, attendees will

  • Understand the various ways healthcare providers are using social media to market their services
  • Learn about the different legal issues surrounding social media using real-life examples, and
  • Discuss strategies to mitigate legal risks.

What exactly is ethics? Is there a difference between business ethics vs. personal ethics? Susan’s sense of humor and real life stories drives home the point that ethics really is simply a choice…your choice…and, your choice makes a difference. Dr. Len Tau

Word of mouth has always been the foundation for the acquisition of new patients by a dental practice, but in our Internet age, word of mouth is transformed because of reviews sites like Googe, Yelp, Facebook, Healthgrades and dozens of others.

A bad customer experience which goes unresolved can lead to a bad reputation and thus lost revenue. Many dentists don’t know how to manage their reputation online. In this interactive, energized seminar, Dr. Tau shares numerous tips and best practices, as well as the system that has been tried and tested in his office enabling him to take his practice to the next level simply by marketing his reputation.
